Mark Stott BVMS DBR MRCVS - Director

Mark was brought up in Galgate but has strong farming family links in Westmorland. He went to Lancaster Grammar School and graduated from Glasgow University in 1992. Having spent two years in Dumfries, Mark returned to the area as a mixed practitioner at Highgate Veterinary Clinic and in January 2011, together with Jim formed Farm Gate Vets. Mark enjoys all aspects of farm animal practice but has a speciality in cow and bull fertility having obtained a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction from Liverpool University in 2001. Outside work, Mark enjoys time with his family, walking the dogs, fell walking and is a first responder for the Endmoor area.

Jim McKinstry BVMS DBR MRCVS - Director

Jim graduated from Glasgow University in 1999 and immediately joined Baldrand Vets.  In 2004 he became a Clinical Director.  In January 2011 Jim, together with Mark  formed Farm Gate Vets.  In September 2014 Jim passed is Diploma in Bovine Reproduction. His main veterinary interests are in cattle fertility and mastitis. Jim originally comes from a farm in Northern Ireland, where his family had a beef suckler herd.  When not at work, Jim spends time on his father-in-law's farm, and experimenting with his own herd of beef cattle. He also enjoys walking and running when time allows. 



Sarah Harker BVM&S MRCVS

Sarah graduated from Edinburgh University in 1996 and has worked mostly in mixed practice since graduation. Having being brought up on a beef and sheep farm in Yorkshire, she is now married to a local farmer and spends her time between working at Farm Gate Vets and working on the family farm.





 Andrew Rutherford BVM&S DBR MRCVS

Andrew recently joined the practice having worked in Yorkshire for the past few years. He qualified from Edinburgh University in 2009 and is confident in all aspects of farm animal work. He has recently studied for and passed his Diploma in Bovine Reproduction at Liverpool University. When he has a spare moment, Andrew may be found tinkering with his Landrover or coarse fishing.



 Emily Ozols BVSc MRCVS

Emily joined the team at Lancaster in August 2014 straight out of Liverpool University. She is very interested in all aspects of farm animal health and productions, especially routine fertility and reproduction and keen get started. Emily is also looking forward to lambing time as she has a specific interest in sheep work.  Away from work, Emily is keen on sports, running and hill walking but also and enjoys baking - we look forward to sampling some of her treats!








Rebecca Dean BVMS MRCVS 

Becky, originally hailing from near Cartmel, spent a lot of her university placements with the Farm Gate team and finally joined the team for a permenant role in January 2015. Becky graduated from the Glasgow University in 2013, and after spending some time travelling, she joined a mixed practice on the Isle of Man. Becky has taken on a mixed practice role within the team, dividing her time between Kendal and Sedbergh branches. Outside of work she enjoys swimming, amateur photography and is planning on taking up climbing.


 Cecilia Corbett BVet Med MRCVS

Cecilia (known as CC) who joined us in May 2015, is originally from Norfolk but has family in Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2013 and has since worked as a farm animal vet in West Sussex and Northamptonshire. CC has developed a particular interest in sheep work and beef fertility. Out of work she is keen to explore the Dales and the Lakes, as hills are a bit of a novelty when you come from the fens of Norfolk!



Tim Ferguson BVMS MRCVS

Tim, from Lisburn in Northern Ireland graduated from Glasgow University in July 2015 and immediately joined the team. He is keen to put his training into practice, looking forward to cattle fertility and surgical work. Tim has travelled to New Zealand where he worked on a dairy farm gaining valuable hands on experience. Over in NI, he has been working on a sheep and beef farm during weekends and holidays.  Tim is keen to explore the local area and enjoys sport, fishing and hill walking. 



David Frazer BVMS MRCVS

David is from a beef farm in Ballyclare, Co.Antrim, Northern Ireland. He graduated from Glasgow in July 2015 and joined the team in August. His main interests in veterinary are nutrition, lameness and beef work. He has spent time in New Zealand and the USA working on dairy farms. His main interests outside of veterinary are rugby (union), squash, fishing, hill walking and showing cattle.




Jennifer Hutchison BVM&S MRCVS

Originating from a Stirling dairy farm, Jennifer graduated from Edinburgh University in 2014 and worked as a farm vet in Penrith for the last year. Having fallen in love with the Lake District, she has come further south for a bit more variety! Veterinary interests include youngstock management, infectious disease and sheep. Outside of work Jennifer enjoys baking and is an avid fan of “The Great British Bake Off”. She also enjoys running and cycling and is looking forward to climbing many more Cumbrian fells.



Nick Preston BSc BVM&S MRCVS - Director at Farm Gate Vets (Sedbergh) Ltd

Nick is our Large Animal vet at Farm Gate Vets Sedbergh. His hobbies include cycling, woodwork and shooting.






Jim Bramley BVM&S MRCVS - Director at Farm Gate Vets (Sedbergh) Ltd

Jim is our Companion Animal vet at Farm Gate Vets Sedbergh. His hobbies include cycling, walking and playing the guitar.
